So as to keep things interesting and you ladies stalking the blog to see when you get featured… I’m going totally out of order!! {evil possibly but way more exciting!} Though keeping some order.. we’re featuring Lindsey & Jonathan’s {7.16.11} Belle Mer Island House wedding as they used YELLOW!!! Read on below for great tips on their inspirational designs!

I ADORED Lindsey’s florals.. the simplicity of the spheres.. and the uniqueness of each center-piece.. here’s how Lindsey pulled this look together…
Lindsey. Flowers by Semia did an amazing job!!!! I was so pleased with the florals from the ceremony arrangements and Tuscan Table accents to the reception centerpieces. Semia was incredible to work with from the beginning and loved the idea of incorporating yellow candlesticks into the design. I found mismatched brass candlesticks on Etsy and spray painted them a bright yellow. Semia then attached floral spheres to make awesome centerpieces for five of the 15 tables. For the rest of the tables, Semia created a unique garden in a low slate square container using white and yellow flowers and lemons and succulents! Each design was different and the end result was awesome!!!!

Q. What made your event UNIQUE?
Lindsey. Remembering Jonathan’s mom was really important to both of us. We incorporated roses into the florals, danced to Stevie Nicks, and wore the LiveSTRONG bracelets. She is such an important person in Jonathan’s life and has definitely influenced who he is today, and we felt like she was celebrating with us.
I’ve always loved decorating and entertaining, so I did a lot of the decor myself. I loved incorporating the vintage postcard/destination theme and creating the signs for the guestbook, signature cocktail, cupcake description, table numbers, and candy bar. I ordered a “la dolce vita” sign from Etsy for our candy bar. I love the cooking show “La Dolce Vita” and I thought “The Sweet Life” would be a cute addition to the candy bar and a nod to Jonathan’s Italian heritage and our honeymoon. It was so great seeing how everything came together after months and months of planning.
Another aspect of the wedding was the advice card table. I thought this would be a fun element for guests and I’m a first grade teacher, so it was important to make sure my kids were there in spirit. We study a unit on families and we got into a big discussion on marriage. My class knew I was getting married over the summer, so it was interesting to hear what they thought getting married meant. They wrote their thoughts on marriage which I displayed at the advice card table. I liked this element because I felt like they were part of the celebration and I knew guests would get a kick out of their thought process.
These small touches made our day unique and so much more meaningful. They reflected who we are as individuals and a couple.

Q. The Bride Wore
Lindsey. Adele Wechsler Sunray
I unexpectedly found the dress at Brides Against Breast Cancer in Boston, which made the experience extra special because my mom is a breast cancer survivor.

Q. What was your inspiration behind your wedding? Can be anything from a color palette to a location, from a memory to a dress/bouquet/shoes…anything! What motivated you and most influenced your decisions?
Lindsey. Our color palette was inspired by the LiveSTRONG bracelets. I had seen a wedding in a magazine where the bride and groom used these as napkin rings. Jonathan has always worn a LiveSTRONG bracelet in memory of his mom and I thought this would be such a unique way to honor his mom. We supported a great cause and who doesn’t love a pop of color! It makes me smile when I look back at the pictures and see guests wearing the bracelets. After deciding on the yellow, we chose navy as an accent-perfect for yellow and Newport!
I also wanted the reception area to have a clean and fresh feel, so we stuck with white linens and linen runners. The florals were white, yellow, and green…including lemons and succulents.

Q. Finish this sentence: “One thing I learned from my wedding planning…”
Lindsey. One thing I learned from my wedding planning is that weddings come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. There’s no right or wrong way to do things and it’s important to reflect your style as a couple. Never lose sight of what the day is really about and stick to what you believe in. Make it meaningful for you as a couple and take time to do the little things because those small touches will be what makes your wedding unique.
