Circus Circus :: Fun During “Off-Season”

March 29th, 2013 | Personal, Signature Spencer Events

What do we do in the “off season” for the Wedding Industry?? Well aside from commercial projects and runways typically we enjoy having weekends! Imagine that.. a real life with weekends with friends and family like normal people! This winter not only did we welcome Wyatt C. Spencer {12.28.12} but our twins Quinn + Tripp turned 4 – can’t believe how quickly times go by.. they are now 4 yrs old, Jared and I will have been married 10yrs this year.. and now a newbie spencer to add to my assistants chart – yay!

But most importantly… having twins I go a bit extreme on parties and set my planning and creativity FREE to plan them a CIRCUS event for 25 of their best toddler buds.. yes yes I’m crazy a suppose, but it’s the lack of weddings during the winter that drive me to need this creative outlet! Teasers from their big day…

Quinn + Tripp above!! The best is that many of their friends are our past clients children so we get to see our couple over and over!

The table above was fulling covered in strips of ribbons… took a while but was so PRETTY & FUN! In addition, the kids were amused by both a face painter and a balloon artist.. well and LOADS of sweets! Cake pops, cake and cupcakes from our friends at Sweet Indulgence and then a full candy bar I created to compliment the theme LOL :: Ringmaster Rings {ring pops} Lion Tamer Whips {licorice} Elephant Poop {Hershey kisses} Circus Peanuts, Popcorn, StrongMan Vitamins {mini M&M’s} … animal crackers, etc

Yes.. that’s Jared as a scary clown and ME in our photobooth during the boys party … scary right LOL

And for those of you curious about Wyatt… he was able to hop  in the photobooth with his brothers too! Oh and it took me 6 hrs to clean up all the candy & popcorn on the floor post party too FYI for those parents crazy enough to think this looked like a good idea ha ha

Thank you to Keri at Sweet Indulgence and Carli at DimplePrints for the amazing Circus sweet treats and eye candy paper designs

Vote to benefit QuinnTripp Foundation!

April 4th, 2012 | Personal, Spotted on the Web

We’re asking for support  in a contest “Experienced Dreamers“. The winner of this incredible contest wins $50,000 in the form of a charitable trust. We’re personally asking for our followers support to vote for a colleague who’s a finalist & would be donating that charitable trust to the Quinn Tripp Foundation {Please take a moment to watch this clip produced by contest finalist,Robert Manning, for the Foundation}. Currently, a percentage of every wedding we are contracted to capture goes directly to the foundation..so our clients are already a huge support but we ask everyone to take a few minutes to consider voting too!

An excerpt from his contest Entry::

“During the past 20 years, as part of my business I have produced cinematic short-form films for weddings. Among the many professionals I’ve encountered are two photographers – Kristin and Jared Spencer. Just over two years ago, their twin boys were born prematurely. The boys spent months in the hospital in intensive care. Kristin and Jared spent almost every waking moment with their boys at the hospital. During that time, Jared was inspired by a little girl who he knew was sick and would not be going home. It was her positive attitude and upbeat demeanor that struck him and stayed with him even after his boys got to go home from the hospital.

Grateful for the health of their boys and inspired by the little girl, Kristin and Jared created a nonprofit foundation to help parents with children in the hospital working closely with the local Ronald MacDonald House in Providence, Rhode Island. They asked me to produce a film to help promote the foundation and to share their story. It was their film that in turn inspired me to want to create more films like that … not just to promote a cause but also the community at large.”

Please help support The QuinnTripp Foundation by voting for Robert Manning in this great contest!

Thank you!

xoxo – Kristin S.

I {heart} Our Brides!

October 14th, 2011 | News, Personal, Weddings

As Jared is literally on the Lazaro Runway now shooting, I’m editing away and catching up on emails as we are playing catch up with all our recent DESTINATION traveling.. but one very cool bride just put a HUGE smile on my face with an incredibly sweet note she sent me, after inquiring about her wedding date availability.

Jacqueline [2012 bride to be] “…I can’t even tell you how excited I am that you’re available for our wedding! I saw you and a bridal party roaming the streets of Newport 2 years ago and I was so intrigued by the angles you were taking photos at. When you were photographing the couple I ran over and asked one of the bridesmaids for your name and researched your work that night. I can honestly say you were my one and only pick for a photographer! As an event planner I’ve seen a lot beautiful photographs but nothing intrigues me more than you work – it’s original yet classic and elegant. Everything I want and more!”

THANK YOU JACQUELINE.. and ALL our clients who take notice and love us as much as we love you!

XOXO ~Kristin

Quinn Tripp Foundation

February 12th, 2011 | News, Personal

“the Spencer’s” have been working on formally establishing a foundation in their twin sons names for the past 2 years… and it’s finally OFFICIAL! This non-profit organization, Quinn Tripp Foundation, was organized to provide meals to families with children in the hospital. Jared & Kristin struggled through having premature twins who spent 10 weeks in the NICU [March 11, 2009] as well as further hospital surgeries and stays.

The Quinn Tripp Foundation will be collaborating with a team of professional culinary experts to provide meals to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

The Ronald McDonald House program provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost.  The Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest.

100% of public donations go directly to helping families. In addition, starting with our 2011 season, a percentage of Kristin Spencer Photography profits will be donated to the foundation as well.

Thank you for selecting our studio & in turn for your support in helping families!

Q & T

June 21st, 2009 | Personal, Uncategorized

Many of you ladies have emailed checking in on our new twins and I just thought it was time to post a little update and pic for those interested!

So many of you email me such kind notes checking up on “the twins” so I figured I would post a little update for you since last I posted we had just announced their arrival but no more details since. They are BOTH doing great though..they keep me up late at night so that I can get all my editing done while they sleep. They finally came home from the NICU May 15 … 16th at about 7lbs. SInce they are doing great adjusting to surroundings without tubes and wires and gadgets monitoring their every breath and movement…and they are chunky little fella’s now! Quinn weighing roughly 8.5 lbs and Tripp 9lbs!!! I just wanted to post a picture.. Tripp is on the right – Quinn on the left, this is a common scenario where Tripp tries to eat his brother :)

Thank you ladies for all the kind notes we’ve received through the struggles they had – it was always nice to find the sweet notes.. and they are doing so well now that I finally feel normal again – well with the exception of having two tiny blonde boys with huge blue eyes always staring at me!
